This beautiful old oak in Hassocks was protected by the council, so the owners couldn’t just hire anyone. We handled the council paperwork, agreed a plan that kept the tree healthy, and reduced its spread by 3 metres. The homeowners got their light back without losing their tree.

How much does tree surgery cost?
It depends on the tree and the job, but most domestic work costs between a few hundred and a couple of thousand pounds. The quickest way to find out? Send us a few photos on WhatsApp and we’ll give you a ballpark the same day. For anything more involved, we’ll pop round for a free look.
Do I need permission to cut down a tree in my garden?
Sometimes, yes. If your tree has a preservation order (TPO) or you’re in a conservation area, you need council approval first. Not sure? Send us the address and we’ll check for you. If you do need permission, we handle the application.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, fully covered. We carry £5 million public liability insurance through Convex Insurance, verified by both Checkatrade and TrustATrader. All our team hold City & Guilds NPTC qualifications. Happy to provide proof of insurance if you need it.
Do you remove all the waste?
Always. We leave your garden clean and tidy. All green waste is removed and recycled. If you’d like to keep logs for your wood burner, just say the word and we’ll cut them to size. We also sell seasoned hardwood logs if you need extra.
How quickly can you respond to emergency work?
For genuine emergencies (a tree on a house, blocking a road, or posing immediate danger) we aim to be with you the same day, often within a few hours. Call Antony directly on 07745 817067. For emergencies, don’t text, call.
What areas do you cover?
We’re based in Burgess Hill and look after trees and gardens across Sussex, Surrey, and the surrounding area. That includes Brighton, Lewes, Haywards Heath, Hassocks, Horsham, Crawley, and plenty more. For bigger consultancy jobs we can travel further. Just get in touch.
Can you work near buildings or power lines?
Yes, it’s what we do most days. We regularly work in tight spaces next to houses, garages, fences, walls, and overhead cables. We take the tree apart in sections and lower each piece on ropes, so nothing drops where it shouldn’t.
What is a crown reduction?
It’s a way of making a tree smaller without ruining it. We shorten the branches back to natural growth points so the tree keeps its shape and stays healthy. It’s completely different from topping (which damages the tree and looks awful). If your tree’s getting too big, a crown reduction is usually the right answer.
